Concepting Document’s New Beauty Publication
With a name inspired by Susan Sontag’s “Notes on Camp,” and “On Photography,” Notes on Beauty explores beauty in a philosophical sense—engaging with ideas of identity, self-representation, and radical transformation. The journal invites conversation on the concept of beauty as an expression of individuality, a way of being so fully oneself that it becomes a model for others, through the unraveling of life’s threads in pursuit of personal truths.
Contributors and talent featured in the inaugural issue include Inez & Vinoodh, Julianne Moore, Francesco Vezzoli, Anok Yai, Carlijn Jacobs, Carlos Nazario, Paul Sinclair, as well as artists Lorna Simpson, Glenn Ligon, and Dietmar Busse, and writers including Ottessa Moshfegh, Ocean Vuong, Donatien Grau, Natasha Stagg, Michael Cunningham, Lena Dunham, Vince Aletti, Alex Needham, and more.
